Daniel Oduntan is an intuitive creative whose journey spans across participatory methods and interdisciplinary art. Rooted in a background of sound engineering, he graduated from the London College of Music & Media in 2007. Since 2010, Daniel has made significant contributions to the visual arts and heritage sector, serving as an editorial photographer and creative director for commercial and grassroots community projects. His early visual work earned him a nomination for best British emerging artist by the Mica Gallery in 2012.
Daniel's artistic journey is deeply rooted in his diverse experiences within multimedia and contemporary media culture. His tenure as a multimedia assistant at the V&A Museum, specializing in digital media and publishing until 2019, marks a significant milestone in his artistic evolution. This role not only equipped him with technical skills but also provided insights into the intersection of art, technology, and culture. Drawing from his Nigerian heritage and immersion within Black diasporic media, Daniel's perspective is deeply influenced by an awareness of the systemic limitations within Western narratives and imagination. Through both institutional and independent projects, Daniel continues to explore the intricate dynamics between traditional and digital mediums, drawing inspiration from his experiences and observations of contemporary societal narratives.
In recent years, Daniel has been commissioned to produce cross-disciplinary art projects and workshop talks for institutions such as the Tate Modern, UCL Bartlett, The London College of Fashion, Warp Records, The Design Museum, and Publicis London. ︎
